Detailed Music Video Analysis, Scouting for Girls

Heartbeat is a song by the Indie-Pop/Rock band, Scouting for Girls released this song on the 7th April 2008 within their self-titled debut album, the single got as far as to peak at rank 10th in the UK charts.
I Choose this song because of it's genre relevance to the genre that my group is doing.

The pop genre is often a featured song at parties; in the majority of pop songs they include some sort of party where the singer is either singing on a stage or walking through the crowd.
In this particular song the band are playing on a stage at a party, throughout the song their are thought beats as with Andrew Goodwin's theory.
The melody of the song is not complex and repeats the same melody quite a few times so that people will recognize it if they hear it. This is to make the song stick into people's head so that it's memorable which could lead to more sales further down the line.

The narrative of the song is about love, which is quite typical of most songs in the music industry.
As the songs develops the visuals displayed on the screen reflect what the lyrics are saying, every time the singer says "Heartbeat"the video shows someone looking at who they fancy and a heart comes out of their chest, and in some cases their crotch for the boys.
Andrew Goodwin's theory talks about the narrative and performance in that which they link into the actual song, in which this song does go by Andrew's theory.
